At The Lantern, we’re committed to building a thriving centre for the arts. We look to engage at a local and national level with the latest & greatest to foster a deep and diverse appreciation of creativity and performance.

Spring/Summer 2012 marks our first fully professional season, with a vast range of performance, live music and events. It also sees The Lantern Theatre's debut as a producing house, with the dark and brooding drama, Order. Producing is a long term goal for us, with more shows due in Autumn/winter. Watch this space for details in the coming months.

Playing host to the Carney Academy and our resident amateur group the DGP, we ensure those with a passion for performance and production can develop and showcase their skills. The DGP produces four shows a year, and our annual New Writing Festival is a fantastic opportunity for writers to get their work performed on stage.

The Lantern is passionate about high quality, highly varied theatre, and is an exciting venue for professional touring shows. Having featured Tony and Olivier Award Winning acts on our stage, we are steadily establishing a reputation for offering unmissable theatre in a unique and intimate space.

Our café bar breaks the mould for theatres with its reasonable prices and provision of locally brewed ales and beers, tea & Fairtrade coffee.
